Our storyAbout Hamalaya

Origins

Five valleys, one road out

Our collection is international, bringing together fine gemstones from celebrated producing regions across Asia, Africa and South America.

From Kashmir and Sri Lanka to Colombia, Panjshir, Chitral and beyond, we source through trusted relationships. Stones are selected, reviewed and prepared through our Mansehra office before being offered.

  • Kashmir — sapphire, ruby, aquamarine, garnet and spessartine garnet.
  • Emerald sources — Swat, Colombia, Panjshir and Chitral.
  • Sri Lanka — a renowned source of fine sapphire.
  • Worldwide — cut and rough gemstones sourced without limitation to one region.
  • Mansehra — selection, client service and worldwide dispatch.

How a stone reaches you

Four stages, in order

STAGE 01

Buying

We source cut and rough gemstones from trusted suppliers and established trade partners around the world.

STAGE 02

Sorting

Material is reviewed, weighed and sorted by quality, size and intended use through our Mansehra office.

STAGE 03

Cutting

Cut in our own workshops by our own cutters — no outside lapidaries. Native cuts or calibrated sizes, to your spec.

STAGE 04

Export

Parcels are photographed, invoiced and shipped insured, with certification from the Bangkok laboratories arranged on request.

Independent verification

Tested in Bangkok, not by us

We cut our own stones, but we do not grade our own stones. Certification is done by the major laboratories in Bangkok, and the report travels with the parcel.

GIA

Gemological Institute of America — Bangkok

Sathorn / Silom. World-class diamond grading, coloured stone identification and origin analysis.

AIGS

Asian Institute of Gemological Science

One of Thailand's oldest and most respected institutions for coloured stone identification and education.

GIT

The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand

The public testing body, in the ITF Tower on Silom Road.

GRS

GemResearch Swisslab AG

Independent international laboratory specialising in treatment detection and origin determination.

Certification is arranged on request and quoted per stone. Turnaround depends on the laboratory and the report requested.

Our story

Three generations at the same table

The business started the way most gem houses in Pakistan did — one man, a loupe, and a long walk up to the diggings. What changed is the distance the stones now travel, and the number of people who see them before they reach a jeweller's bench.

What has not changed is the buying. We still pay at the mine, in cash, against the mine name, and we still re-sort every parcel by hand before it is offered to anyone.

  • Bought at the face. No chain of middlemen between the digger and our table.
  • Graded in-house. Every stone weighed, measured and recorded against its origin.
  • Cut in-house. Our own workshops and our own cutters, start to finish.
  • Shipped insured. Export papers handled here, certification on request.
